Extended Profile
Where did I come from: Portland Oregon, bookworm capital of the world, I mean what else can you do in the rain :)
How Did I find BookCrossing: During a cross country move I was looking for good place to donate books. I'm a bit of a nerd and need to have books around me to feel intellectually secure. As a result I have been lugging books all over the country for the last 10-15 years (Santa Clara, Portland, OR, San Diego, SF, Fresno, back to San Diego, Philadelphia) and facing yet another cross country move, decided it was time to let things go. Even after hours of "Clean house" and "Hoarders" I was still having a hard time letting go of the attachement to my books, so you can imagine how excited I was to find BC. I still feel connected to my books, but they are out in the world doing what they do best: speading knoweldge and sharing stories. Admittedly the move got a little crazy so I ddin't register very many books, but regardless I'm a Bookcrosser now.
What does the future Hold: I'm getting married 9/4/11 to another wonderful bookworm (though he is the nonfiction type, while I am fiction and text book type). We met back in 2004 and while he was very interested in me, it took me a bit to come around. I'm a bit of an insomniac, so in an attempt to whoo me, he offered to read me a bedtime story to get me to sleep (our first book was the 5th book in the Harry Potter series). It worked like a charm on both counts. Back then he would read me to sleep every night, 6 years later our schedules are a little off, so I have to wait for the weekends, but it is worth the wait :) Now that I'm planning the wedding I thought a great wedding favor would be a bookcrossing book (something a little more useful than those disgusting candy coated almonds). I think it will be fun to track the books over the course of our marriage. So here's to increasing the membership by 70.
