October, 2005:

I've recently rediscovered that people are more important than things, even including books. I was reminded of this yet again when my son was in a debilitating car accident on July 4, 2005. After a significant period of time during which he had no heartbeat or respiration, he was returned to us through the heroic efforts of paramedics. Although he spent 12 days in a coma, several weeks in ICU, and a total of three months in various hospitals and rehabilitation facilities, he is now home. Significantly diminished, profoundly disabled, but home. My tribute to him, to his self-professed role in life as a helper and giver, and to his strength and courage, is the registration and release of 1000 books.

In his honor, I have also started a Release Challenge. You can find details about this in the Forum; look for the Chef's Challenge.

Other Challenges:
Race to 3 Million (Registered 1650 books for this challenge)
