January 2009: 2007 and 2008 have been quiet years as far as Bookcrossing was concerned (not so quiet in other areas of my life). But now that a new year has started I am determined to get going again.

This is what I wrote when I discovered Bookcrossing and started to fill my shelf. It's still true so I won't delete it:

I've got shelves filled with English and Dutch books, Bookcrossing has made me wonder if I really am as attached to them as I have always thought to be. Letting go is not easy, but the karma is slowly getting hold of me and my bookcrossing experience is starting to take shape. There are some books that are not likely to leave my collection, like my complete series of Discworld novels by Terry Pratchett. However, there are also many books that I have enjoyed, but will not likely ever touch, let alone read, again. I really like the idea of sharing these books with others, and it is also a great way to discover books that you might never have come across otherwise.

So far I have sent books as a RABCK to Portugal, the UK, Brasil, and Australia, traded with bookcrossers in the UK, Ireland, and Canada, had a few successful hunts (thanks to the release alerts) and I have joined several book rays/rings*. And then there was the pleasant surprise of seeing wings around my name! The wings have faded and disappeared but still a big thank you to Pluisje for them! As it turned out she was also responsible for my second pair of wings that I discovered on 19/12/2004.

I have sent out the following books as rings or rays. Please PM me if you would like to join.

Reaper Man by Terry Pratchett
Jingo by Terry Pratchett
A Long Way Down by Nick Hornby
Pixel Juice by Jeff Noon

My bookshelf will probably be always under construction. I still have a whole box of old pocket books that I am planning to read, register and release. PM me if you are interested in one of the available books, perhaps something can be arranged (there are limits to the postage I am willing to pay, but these limits can of course be stretched by an interesting trade)
