Other than going to a meet-up there are a few more options.....
*** The YWCA is a great place. It is on one street west of Karasuma (Moromachi dori) and south of Shimochojamachi dori (street) (which is the third set of lights north of Marutamachi). It is near the Imperial palace so if you are in that area stop in between 10 and 7:30pm. They have a large bookshelf of paperbacks. They also will take your paperbacks (no hard covers or really old books!) if you are looking to make more room in your house.
** Buttercups Cafe (On Shirakawa street about 5 blocks south of Imadagawa street. Good place to go if you are around Ginkakuji (Silver temple) and hungry because they have a great Mexican rice dish! They have a pretty good book exchange shelf.
* Kyoryukan (Turn right one block south of Imadagawa and Karasuma it is across from the YMCA College.) They have a small coffee shop there and have just set-up a small bookshelf for book exchange.
* Artcomplex This is above (on the third floor?) Cafe Independance which is on the corner of Sanjyo street and one street west of Teramachi (Tully's is on this corner). There is a small bookshelf that was set-up by a Japanese bookcrosser (BCname Artcomplex) so there are Japanese books here too (some of which are kid's books for those of you who are studying Japanese)!
Looking for Free books in Naha, Okinawa, Japan....

** Paul & Mike's International Bar & Cafe - On the main tourist drag so it is easy to get to (here is a link (with directions) via an Okinawa info site (if you are looking for ideas when planing your trip) http://www.okinawaspirit.com/links.php)
They have a pretty big bookshelf with a pretty good selection of books!
