Hi everyone! I'm a recently retired medical transcriptionist with two sons and a VERY interesting husband. He's known about the Tidewater Virginia region as "The Bookman", as he's sold used books for the past 10 years or so. He sold his physical bookstore 4 years ago and has been dealing from the back of our van or station wagon or over the net for the past 4 years. Our detached garage became his warehouse. I LOVE books but I am INNUNDATED! My eyesight is failing and I fear I will NEVER read them all!

My oldest son is 21, a country music singer and songwriter. He's going places but for now does not have a national recording contract, is technically a "regional" star, opens for the big guys a couple times a year. He's a sweetheart. His website is found at http://www.jasonswain.net, if you want to copy/paste that into your browser! My other son is 16, also a sweetheart, likes modern rock, punk music. A yappy, overfed but gorgeous black-and-tan dachshund completes our family.

Since I've become unable to work due to multiple physical disabilities, I've been writing more. Writing is my second biggest passion. Unfortunately, writers have to read, and reading is my FIRST passion, so sometimes I never get to the writing! Some of my physical problems affect my eyes, so sometimes I read v-e-r-y s-l-o-w-l-y, and get VERY frustrated. But since I was told 7 years ago that I would probably be blind by now, I'm thankful that I can still read at ALL! I have trouble retaining what I hear, and can't pause to make mental pictures the same way when listening to a tape as when reading a book, so thus far can't stand books on tape!

This site is awesome! I just discovered it today but love the idea. I've always hated the idea of throwing away a book. Even when we come across one that is badly damaged, missing a cover or a back page, etc., I hate to throw it away. And the ones I love, well, we've been out of bookshelf space for years and years....and the boxes are stacked literally to the ceiling in the rooms no one's allowed in...

Looking forward to meeting you book-people and to releasing some books! I probably won't be trying to catch any of your releases, though; wild books find us ALL THE TIME and we adopt way too many strays as it is! :) I gotta stop this addiction!

4/27 - Now that I know the difference, I will probably NOT be registering my plan-to-keep books, which I can not yet part with on a permanent basis and can't afford to ship out. But when I'm looking, if I see something you want I might surprise you. Meanwhile I will make an effort to release some to the wild and also to register some to be available to circulate/share; the postage will be the main impediment there. This is gonna be FUN!
