I got a homepage! Yay! It's a weblog with some other stuff. It sucks. Go at your own risk. I'm making a better one but it isn't up yet.

Anyway, I released my first book today. It was Raptor Red, a book that, strange as this will sound considering the genre, deeply touched me and left an indelible mark on the way I think. It felt so unnatural, leaving a book behind. I took one look back at my book, which sat there with a post it note ("Turn to my back cover, signed, The Book") affixed to its cover. It looked lonely, even in the midst of the large crowd. I wondered if it would be picked up by another 15-year-old girl, like me, or someone totally different. I wondered if the person would bother to record their findings on this site. I wondered if it would just be tossed into a lost-and-found with flagrant disregard for all my careful notes. Most of all, I wondered whether the book would get people thinking about evolution and why we humans do the cooky things we do. I actually almost cried, wondering. Was I being unfair to the book by leaving it there to fend for itself? But no, I decided, as I turned my head away from my book. As crazy as it sounds, I think it was in that one moment as I stared at my book sitting forlornly on a bench, that I realized that material possesions don't really matter at all, and that it's far more fulfilling to share with the world than to hide something all to yourself. So my book is out there, and now that I've spilled my guts to everyone who happens by this website, I really do hope someone comes by to record their finding of my book. In fact, I think it's inappropriate to call it *my* book now, it's *our* book.
