Extended Profile
I'm a mom of a five- and a three-year old. I'm also a freelance writer. I love music and theatre. I used to teach high school. What other random things can I write here? Oh, I'm a sometimes runner and a sometimes cook.

I re-discovered bookcrossing after I had some PBs on ebay that didn't sell. I am working to clear shelves and boxes. I would like to send books on to others who want to read them, so if you see something that is available, pm me and we can work something out.

My favorite authors are all over the map: Natalie Goldberg, John Irving, Scott Turow, Nelson DeMille, James Patterson, Brad Meltzer, Shakespeare, Bronte, JK Rowling, Anais Nin, Henry Miller, Sam Beckett... I should quit now. Oh, Annie Proulx too. I tend to go between fast-paced energetic brain candy, and really good quality writing that absorbs me. If I find an author that does both, I get very excited. I think that's why I like Rowling so much.

I will post a wish list sometime soon. I had one on my computer and I think I lost it. Sometimes I look to Fresh Air and other NPR programs for ideas.

Wish List is here!
My Wish List

July 2007
1. Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows by JK Rowling--FINISHED! FREAKING PHENOMENAL!
2. The Growing Summer by Noel Streatfeild--finished. It was okay. Not as good as other Streatfeild books.

August 2007
1. When Do Fish Sleep? by David Feldman--I couldn't get through the whole thing. It was interesting, but not something I'd read cover to cover.
2. The Quickie by James Patterson (library)--digestable and predictable, but a quick (ha ha) read that was amusing.
3. The Scandalous Summer of Sissy LeBlanc by Loraine Despres--loved it!
4. Running for Mortals by John Bingham and Jenny Hadfield--this was a great find for me. It will have a permanent place on my bookshelf.
5. What Not to Wear by Trinny Woodall and Susannah Constantine--a classic that I love.
6. What You Wear Can Change Your Life by Trinny Woodall and Susannah Constantine--a great guide to how to find colors that you should be wearing, and how to mix them up without using black. It's great stuff.

September 2007
1. Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows (again!)
2. Stephanie Pearl-McPhee Casts Off (library)--a good yarn (ha ha ha) for knitters.
3. The Sonnet Lover by Carol Goodman (library)--Loved it! The ending wasn't stellar, but it was so beautifully written, it didn't matter.
4. The Queen's Man by Sharon Kay Penman--wonderful. I really like her stuff.

October 2007
1. Habibi by Naomi Shihab Nye--this was a great find. It's teen fiction, but the story, about a Palestinian-American family who emigrates from St. Louis to Israel, was a very interesting read. It prompted a lot of questions, and I think it would be great for discussion, in the classroom or out.
2. Angus, Thongs, and Full-frontal Snogging by Louise Rennison (book ray)
3. You've Been Warned by James Patterson
4. The Seduction of Water by Carol Goodman--phenomenal.
5. Jewtopia by Bryan Fogel and Sam Wolfson--so so, as my grandmother would have said.

November 2007
1. On the Bright Side, I'm Now the Girlfriend of a Sex God by Louise Rennison (book ray)
2. I am America (and So Can You!) by Stephen Colbert--I tried and didn't laugh at all. His style just doesn't seem to translate to the page the way Jon Stewart's does.

December 2007
1. The Ghost Orchid by Carol Goodman
There were others, but I forgot to write them down.

A list of what I'm reading or going to read soon:

1. A Thousand Acres by Jane Smiley
2. The Keepers of Truth by Michael Collins

A list of what is on the shelf to be read (but not yet registered):

1. Giovanni's Room by James Baldwin
2. Pere Goriot by Honore de Balzac (ok, ambitious, but at least I might understand some Balzac in English this time around!)
3. Bird by Bird by Anne Lamott
4. Jeff Galloway's Book on Running
5. The Woman in White by Wilkie Collins
6. The Water-method Man by John Irving
7. Back Roads by Tawni O'Dell
8. The Bourne Identity by Robert Ludlum
9. Message in a Bottle by Nicholas Sparks
