Extended Profile
I am a hopeless bibliophile who has been a reader since childhood. My first conscious memory is of listening as my mother recited "The Song of Hiawatha." My best times were with my nose in a book at the local Carnegie Library. My first owned library consisted of those paperback books we could get from the Book Club at school (remember that, Boomers?) - The Return of the Native; Gods, Graves and Scholars - and I was taught the proper way to open them, smoothing each page from back to front so the spine wouldn't break; washing my hands before I read them; putting my bookplate in the front cover;and loving them.

As an adult, post-graduate and searching for my true vocation in life, I remember what a shock it was to me to realize that I could actually work at something that I loved - and I became a bookseller.

After 12 years in the trade, I "retired" from the increasingly-appalling state of the modern American bookstore/chain, sick to my soul with the emphasis on "product" and "profit" - and migrated to my second "home," - the library - where I now cheerfully dispense books for free as a Circulation Supervisor!Visit our Official BookCrossing Station at the William G. Reed Timberland LIbrary, in Shelton, WA.

I am joyfully embarking on this new adventure in sharing, and do so in the secure knowledge that I join a legion of like-minded, great-hearted souls!
