This OBCZ is in The Clarence pub, 53 Whitehall. The owners aren't actively involved, but are happy to let me make them an OBCZ - although there are restrictions such as no posters or leaflets (bookmarks are ok though). Books are left on the barrel top on the right of the door as you go in. The removal rate is erratic, so you may find a dozen books or none, and the catch rate is also erratic - but due to the tourists who visit the pub your next journal entry could be from Germany, Canada, Australia.....

The staff are friendly, they don't shoo you out the door, and there's pretty good grub, if their cheese and apple chutney sandwiches are anything to go by! There's a non-smoking area near the door, and the room upstairs (which can be used for functions) is non-smoking and family friendly. Update: this upstairs area is now a 'restaurant', and the range of food available has been expanded. I think it's still bookable for functions.

I won't check the e-mail address very often, so to be sure of getting a message through, please PM me (WistfulDragon) direct, and I'll try to give any assistance I can.

I don't tend to 'catch' books to this shelf any more, RL intrudes too much. Occasionally I come on here if there is a book left unregistered and I find it before someone else does - I figure it's only fair for the Clarence to have such books registered to it!

BTW, the bar staff now know how to make a St Clements, and make an excellent Irish Black Russian. If you ask for tea, you are served it with shortbread.
