My mom forwarded this link to me. She's a rabid reader and passed that obsession on to me. :)
I'm currently working as an office manager in the trucking industry. Since I don't have to take any work home, as is common in other venues of employment, I have plenty of time to read. This is good because I also belong to a book club that meets monthly.
:)
You can tell a lot about people by their bookshelves, but that's not necessarily the case here. I have a lot of books given to me to register and release, which may fall under the category of (a) I don't have time to read it or (b) it's not one of my preferred
genres. In addition, there are a number of children's books on my shelf that were registered to give out for Halloween along with some sweets, and all the leftovers (the books, not the candy) were donated to my daughter's school, with the basic information
about Bookcrossing. (The concept of Bookcrossing was well-received by the principal, so cross your fingers!) (And the leftover candy was donated to my office, where *it* was well-received...) :)
My daughter, 16, (who actually has her own bookshelf here, but isn't a frequent visitor) has caught the reading bug, with the Warriors series by Erin Hunter, and is also a member of her school's book club. She occasionally joins my monthly book club, and in
2007, I gave up my hosting month for her to present the first Warriors book to the club. The book caused a great deal of discussion, and my daughter was very pleased with the meeting.
My son, 11, is starting to look into reading with the Boba Fett (Star Wars) book series. We usually read for about a half an hour before bedtime, and I'm hoping that his reading the Star Wars book will lead him to want to read other kinds of books.
