I joined bookcrossers on 21/11/07, so I'm still learning the process. I'm not trying to do a hard-sell, but I have recently self-published a travel book, Snake Fang Salad. I'll release a few mint copies of the book into the wild before christmas and see
what happens. I discovered my book is mentioned in a bookcrossing blog by tqd after a google search.
For those considering self-publishing, it is a huge effort raising a book to professional standards, though I've employed a number of publishing industry experts to assist me. I have no proof yet of its success or failure, though reviews thus far are promising. Book publishing is often compared to child birth. If you can imagine or have experienced that trepidation, you'll know how I'm feeling at the moment.
Perhaps you're thinking a self-published book must be second-rate. I'm hopeful it's otherwise. You can judge for yourself by following the SNAKE FANG SALAD link on my web site, www.gregelms.com to read a few extracts. Or you can find it in major bookshops in Australia and New Zealand.
