Hallo! Seagull Books is an international independent publishing house, crafting books like works of art. It began as a small Indian publishing house but has since expanded to London and New York.
Serious non-fiction. World literature. Culture studies. Sociology. Anthropology. Theatre. Cinema. Art. Photography . . .
Seagull Bookstore in Kolkata houses all these lovely books and is also the first Official Bookcrossing Zone (OBCZ) in this part of India!
The bookcrossing books are located inside on a corner shelf near the window. This bookshelf is managed by prachitulshan
Do feel free to drop by any time to browse through our great collection of books from all around the world, and you can also swap - bring a book (in good condition) and pick up any book you want from the zone! Go back and journal it and you'll know where all the book's travelled. :)
Although we haven't seen too much activity yet due to bookcrossing being largely unknown in India, some highlights from the past year:
A BCer from Germany released a book here, one book got picked up and travelled to Europe, and we've also had a new member who took some books and even left some of her own!
31A S. P. Mukherjee Road,
Calcutta - 700025
Hours: Mon - Sat: 09:30 - 18:30
If you want to send us a book, first off, thank you! We're always happy to receive them. :) Please send us a PM for details, and also if you'd like to share any OBCZ tips or other suggestions!
