Extended Profile
OK. So general details about myself. Let's see...I like listening to and playing music, going to gigs, dancing like a loon in clubs, watching films, visiting art galleries, reading, cycling (haw!), ranting at things that annoy me on the television, hanging
out with friends, talking rubbish, eating food. I would like to take up photography but I feel self-conscious when I whip out my camera in public places. I have recently taken up drama classes - maybe it'll help me work on my self-consciousness with regards
to my photography aspirations! I have a job as a media researcher but that's pretty boring.
I love so much music including The Beatles, The Rolling Stones, Bob Dylan, Jimi Hendrix, The Who, loads of semi-obscure Sixties garage, soul, rhythm and blues bands, Stevie Wonder, Marvin Gaye, Michael Jackson (all the way up to Scream), actually most Motown music, Blondie, Marc Bolan, David Bowie, Missy Elliot, Franz Ferdinand, Kelis, N*E*R*D/many Neptunes produced music, Outkast, Pulp, The Ramones, The White Stripes, The Zutons, Common. I like a lot of old school easy listening, swing and jazz. I'm quite partial to a bit of Country (Mike Nesmith, Gram Parsons, Glen Campbell, Johnny Cash etc). Rock n Roll with three chords lasting two minutes (have you ever danced to Little Richard's Good Golly Miss Molly in a club? Ace.) Female singers with big hair and big voices (Dusty Springfield, Aretha Franklin, Cilla Black, Marlena Shaw, Minnie Ripperton, Candi Staton, Tina Turner, Nancy Sinatra, Dolly Parton). Punk and Funk, when it's done well and loads of pop music, which some may find cheesy (Duran Duran, Madonna, Wham, Kylie, Adam Ant, Beyonce, Gwen Stefani). And probably loads more that I'm not thinking of at the moment.
My favourite films are, well, pretty much anything with Paul Newman or Cary Grant starring in them! Back To The Future Trilogy, A Hard Day's Night, Help!, Head, Rushmore, LA Confidential, The Life Of Brian, The Holy Grail, The Usual Suspects, Grease, Singin' In The Rain, Woman Of The Year, Rear Window, Pulp Fiction, Easy Rider.
TV, I would have to say Monty Python, Top Of The Pops, Dr Who, Arrested Development, The Sopranos, ER, The Office, The League Of Gentlemen, The Monkees, The Simpsons - and now that I've got More4 - I'm getting into The Daily Show with Jon Stewart.
And last, but not least, my favourite books are Catch 22 by Joseph Heller, Slaughterhouse 5 by Kurt Vonnegut, The Longest Cocktail Party by Richard DiLello, The Picture Of Dorian Gray by Oscar Wilde, A Confederacy Of Dunces by John Kennedy Toole, The Hitchhiker's Guide To The Galaxy by Douglas Adams, One Flew Over The Cuckoo's Nest by Ken Kesey, anything by Dashiel Hammet, Christopher Brookmyre's Jack Parlabane stories and For Whom The Bell Tolls by Ernest Hemingway.
