Extended Profile
I was born in Bar Harbor, Maine and grew up in Southwest Harbor on Mount Desert Island. My father (who is 80 this January) always has read voraciously and certainly instilled a love of the same in me. He read me stories but also was a gifted storyteller through my childhood.
My husband and I bring 7 children to our relationship...all of them readers as well! We now live in New Hampshire, happily near a wonderful bookstore, The Toadstool Bookshop. Generally, when we buy books, we know that it will be read and re-read at least 4 times if not more. It does seem a waste to have books just linger around our home without someone else enjoying them...however, it is very difficult to part with old friends. Our collective interests run along the lines of fantasy, theology, anthropology, myth, history, globalization etc...
Terry Pratchet is dearly loved and enjoyed by all, Tolkein, C.S. Lewis, J.K. Rowling, Robert Jordan, and Phillip Pullman are some of the fantasy folks who are popular. Current readings since Christmas have been Kim, Rudyard Kipling (again!), The Woman with the Alabaster Jar , Mary Magdalen and the Holy Grail by Margaret Starbird, Mary Called Magdalene, by Margaret George and Christian Mythmakers by Rolland Hein, Thief of Time by Terry Pratchet and Boticelli (Art History Thingy).
Hobbies are BeeKeeping, have goats, sheep, chickens, ducks and rabbit, kids, love to cook and love to try to garden...stiff competition with goats escaping...My husband's favorite type date (and mine) involves a bookstore and coffee and good food and reading.
Hope this finds you all well and happily involved in a good book!
