Extended Profile
I am a huge reader, and love to have stacks of books around me. I start to feel antsy if I dont have 4-5 choices when I need a new book. I read about 2 books a week during my off-season. I own a gift basket company, and October through December is pretty
wild!
Lately I have been carrying around a large box full of books marked FREE! I leave it out when I work out, when I take my kids to Sunday School, where ever. This is new to me since I saw a left book dropped into a garbage can by an employee....Now I grab the box on my way back out again. Harder to track, but books are less likely to hit the trash.
I use this as a wishlist/remember-to-read-this list. I am always adding and removing as I read things. Many of the books I have I have not posted on my shelf - What is there is free for the trading (if I still have it!) Even if its marked TBR, be sure to ask for it if you would like it - I may have already read it, or I can move it up in Mt.TBR. Thanks!
More charitable stuff I'm involved in
I have started a second bookshelf for collecting kids books - check out Kids-Need-Books. We are collecting gently used children's books on an ongoing basis and donating them to schools in the city where they are needed. Some of these kids have never owned a book.
I also have been sending crocheted blankets to Project Linus (for sick kids) and the VA hospitals so I can always use clean yarn from a non-smoking home. Even partially used skeins are great! If you have some, PM me- I am happy to send you a book in exchange or pay for the postage on the yarn.
I am also a supporter of the Crohn's and Colitis Foundation of America and participate in their annual bowl-a-thon each April. As a person blessed *ahem* with Crohn's disease, this is near and dear to my heart, body and soul...and the reason I have so much reading time. :-) Feel free to PM me for more information on this too!
