Extended Profile
Hello everyone. My name is Kathmeista and I'm a bookaholic.

I came to Bookcrossing through my Aunt who thought I'd be interested - she was right! At first, I have to admit, the idea of giving away some of my books shocked and horrified me, but once I'd stopped hyperventilating and had a good honest look at my shelves, I realised there were plenty of books on there I would never pick up again. Not because they were bad, of course. I just wanted to read other things more. Add to that the fact that I have just moved from spacious New Zealand to cramped Taiwan (house to apartment is quite a change) and my shelf space has just become severely limited.

And so it began. Next thing I know I'm on the forums and I started to discover these awesome things called bookrings and bookrays and wild releases... Genius! I'm hooked!

Bookrings/rays I'm involved in:
The rights of the reader by Daniel Pennac (Hakkalina) - have read this one and sent it on its way.
It's the little things by Erica James (Tregossip) - read and sent on its way
Sea of Poppies by Amtivat Ghosh (book-man-8) - have this one and am reading
Watership Down by Richard Adams (Lauraloo29) Read and released (was last on ray)
The Guernsey Literary and Potato Peel Pie Society by Mary Ann Shaffer, Annie Barrows (ApoloniaX) - read it, loved it and have PM'd the next participant
Chocolat by Joanne Harris (LadyofUnicorns)
The Queen and I by Sue Townsend (Glitterbee) Read and sent on.
The Comfort of Strangers by Ian McEwan (ShovelMonkey1)
The book thief by Markus Zusak (dg7500)
The Glass Room by Simon Mawer (Mafarrimond)
Beauty Junkies: Getting Under the Skin of the Cosmetic Surgery Industry by Alex Kuczynski (Klaradyn) - finished and on it's way to next bod.
The Friday Night Knitting Club by Kate Jacobs (Wandering-B) - read and have sent it on its way
Her Fearful symmetry: A novel by Audrey Niffenegger (BethanyKay)
The Unbearable Lightness of Scones by Alexander McCall Smith (HeavenAli) Read and released.

I am hosting my first ever bookray for Set this house in Order - PM me if you're interested. It's now travelling but you are still welcome to join in!

I love Margaret Atwood, and a million other authors whose names currently escape me. Favourites I've loved include: Wuthering Heights; Eat, Pray Love; The Time Traveller's Wife; Oryx and Crake and I know this much is true. Although I do appreciate classical literature (I'm an English major, I kinda had to) I have a preference for contemporary literature.

I'm starting my thesis on post-9/11 literature in 2010, so if you have any suggestions for the books I should read on that, please drop me a line :)

Also I'm in the process of setting up an OBCZ in the Community Services Center (Expat Centre) in Taipei and trying to raise awareness of and promote the awesomeness that is bookcrossing so if you have any hints or tips, I'd much appreciate it. Also if you're in Taiwan - stop in and say hi!
