Extended Profile
I am an avid reader, and I have piles of books just waiting for me to read. I love getting recommendations from people, and do a lot of trading with friends, family, and co-workers.
I really love mysteries, and have read quite a bit of Brad Meltzer, John Grisham, James Patterson, Patricia Cornwell, and, of course, all of Dan Brown's books. I have read all the Harry Potter books as well, which I find entertaining.
Not all of the books on my bookshelf are books I'm even remotely interested in! For example, my friend was moving and was going to throw out (yes, throw out!) books, so I took a big box. I lucked out earlier this summer and someone had a box of books out at the curb. I find books here and there that I end up releasing through bookcrossing without reading.
I love to travel a lot, and it allows me the chance to read - whether it is in a tent, on the beach, in a plane, or on a boat - and also to bookcross in interesting places. I could spend entire vacations reading, which isn't always a great thing!
I was definitely one of those kids who snuck books under the covers at night and secretly stayed up late reading. Unfortunately, habits stick - I often find myself staying up ridiculously late to finish a book because I am so engrossed in it (the consequence being, it's incredibly hard to get to work early the next morning!)
Check out Meetup.com. There is a bookcrossing group that meets once a month. It's a great chance to share ideas and trade books! I used to be the organizer of the group until I would show up at the meetings and no one would show up, or just one other person. I was hoping that we would get a fair size group going. Now, Meetup requires membership fees, and considering minimal interest in the past, I haven't tried to restart a group.
If you see something on my bookshelf that you are interested in, please do not hesitate to contact me - I am more than willing to send you a book!
Feel free to e-mail me. I am open to suggestions as to places to release books in the capital district, or book recommendations, or anything else you'd like to drop me a line about!
