Gary Berry is the Department Chair for National Security, Intelligence and Space with the American Military University and American Public University. He administers 118 courses supporting five degree programs with 33 faculty members. He also teaches three
classes to keep in touch with the students and the e-classroom.
He previously served as the Chair of the Government International Relations Department at AMU/APU and as the Deputy Chair of the Department of Political Science at the Industrial College of the Armed Forces (ICAF), one of the two war colleges at the National Defense University.
After commissioning through Officer Candidate School in 1976, he served 26 years in the Army. He had three tours in Germany and commanded four units for a total of seven years, culminating with the 411th Base Support Battalion in Heidelberg. He served in various staff positions, to include G1 of the 4th Infantry Division, Adjutant of DELTA Force and as a Protocol Officer for the Chief of Staff, Army in the Pentagon.
His last 6 years in uniform were in joint assignments with the Navy, Marines and Air Force at ICAF and the Defense Information Systems Agency.
He holds a BA in History from the University of Oklahoma, an MPA from Ball State University, an MS from ICAF and is a PhD student in Educational Leadership (concentration in e-Learning) with Touro University International.
