It's funny that when I was in first grade, the teacher put me in the slow reading group. Now eons later I'm the confirmed bookworm and read more books than my friends and family can keep up with. I finally got my act together and pursued a career involving books. A few years back while we were stationed at Ft. Bragg NC I got a job as a library clerk at one of the on post elementary schools. The kids called me checker out lady (my screen name is a play on that nick name). I was hooked and decided I wanted to be the librarian instead of the clerk. This past May (2006) I finished my Master in Library and Information Science. I am currently working as a Youth Librarian in a public library. I haven't given up on my dream to be the school librarian, but I still have to work out the educator certification issues.

I have a wonderful husbsand who puts up with my book addtiction, two energetic boys, two Miniature Schnauzers, one cat, one hamster and one guinea pig (named Eragon). I'm addicted to chocolate, Starbucks and books.

My mother used to tease me and say I would read the back of cereal box if nothing else was available. I'm a little more discerning now that I'm older. Mysteries, fantasy, and children's lit (I hope to serve on the Newbery Committee some year) top my list of favorites. I also enjoy crocheting (I used to make about 6 blankets a year, but it's hard to crochet and read at the same time.) I also enjoy painting glassware. I'm hoping to improve my one-stroke painting skills. And if all that's not enough, I'm also a confirmed shutterbug. Two years ago, I finally switched to digital. Now, I just have to get all the photos into scrapbooks.

My current wishlist for books:

Anything by Agatha Christie
Avalon High by Meg Cabot
New Moon by Stephanie Meyer
The Sisters Grimm Series by Michael Buckley
Angels in the Gloom by Anne Perry
Bookwoman's Last Fling by John Dunning
Miss Zukas and the Island Murders by Jo Dereske
Final Notice by Jo Dereske
Catalogue of Death by Jo Dereske
Miss Zukas in Death's Shadow
Out of Circulation by Jo Dereske
Miss Zukas Shelves the Evidence by Jo Dereske

I'm also always looking for good new mystery authors.
