I am a retired teacher, 39 years in elementary schools. I have always been a reader, used to read under the covers with a flashlight after I was supposed to be asleep. I am a widow with one married son, a small dog and a noisy cat.

I have been gardening this year. I stopped when I retired in 1996 to travel. Am now caring for a family member and can't travel, so back to gardening.

I live in the Finger Lakes region of New York State and often walk the dog by our lake.

I like mysteries, some science fiction and fantasy. I also read parts of gardening books. Some historical novels are good. Once in awhile I read a biography, but mainly, it's fiction.

I know magazines are not books, but I do read and enjoy Smithsonian.

I just heard about BookCrossing from a friend and it sounded like something I would like to do, so here I am.
