Extended Profile
This is the bookshelf for the OBCZ at Birdie's Cafe, located at 233 E. Main St in downtown Westminster, Maryland. It is maintained by MaryZee.
(since this e-mail account isn't checked regularly, if you need to pm about this shelf please contact MaryZee.)
Check the link above for pics, menu & hours.
Books left unregistered on the bookshelf will be registered here. Status of books is as follows:
Reserved means books are registered and will be released there as soon as time and/or space permits.
Travelling means books have been released there and may or may not still be sitting on the shelf waiting for a new reader.
The bookshelf was re-established on October 14, 2010, just a few months after Birdie's re-opened (formerly the Pour House). We try to keep a nice selection of books on the bookshelf.
Thanks to Mom-Oyster, SqueakyChu and Bookczuk for their donations to the shelf. And thanks to everyone who recently met here (on 7/9/11) and left books: Nat4lee, PaDutchTravel, Lghtheart4, Mdm139, Authorauthor, Katekintail, and Melydia. Also thanks go to Mlduff87, who recently donated to the shelf.
The books marked traveling here are only some of the books available. To see what's recently been released at Birdie's Cafe, check our Go Hunting page here.
We've started a Recommended Books program at Birdie's. The basis for it was begun with a list of "Best Books Ever" from the employees and several regular customers (of course, MaryZee always has input ;) I'll be searching out copies of these (and have added these to our wishlist. One of these books will be featured (along with a sign promoting the bookshelf) on the mantelpiece in the front room.
Re: our wishlist - this list will be added to, but when the books are found for the shelf, that book won't be removed from the list (as on a typical wishlist). We will always be looking for (possibly multiple) copies of the wishlist books, since they will be recommended to customers. (Hope that makes sense, this "different" use of our wishlist.)
