Extended Profile
Hello all,
I love reading and always have. I can’t go to sleep without reading a few pages and have my nose wedged in a book over breakfast. Sadly I drive to work so I don’t get the luxury of a commute where I can read (+ all the best books seem to be left at stations).
I think book crossing is such a brilliant idea. I hope (over time) that as I release more and more books, that people will register them.
The sort of books I ‘release’ may not be a true indication of my tastes as I’ll keep my favourite or special books, with me. Below is a list to give you an indication of what stays on my bookshelves.
Favourite Book (if that’s possible!) – ‘Girlfriend In A Coma’ Douglas Coupland (I’m a Coupland fan)
Children’s Books – I love ‘em! I’ve enjoyed all the obvious – Harry Potter, Phillip Pullman, Jaqueline Wilson, ‘The Magic Faraway Tree’ Enid Blyton and I am reading ‘The Winter of Enchantment’ by Victoria Walker (1969) – I understand that until it was recently re-published, this was selling for approx £600 on e-bay!!
Best Beach Read – the ‘Tales of the City’ series by Armistead Maupin (squeeze them all into your suitcase this summer!. I can't wait to get my hands on 'Michael Tolliver Lives' the new edition.
Book I’d recommend to a friend for entertainment – ‘The Dice Man’ by Luke Reinhardt
Best page turner – ‘The Secret History’ Donna Tartt (I like a good thriller – any suggestions for a replacement for this old favourite?)
Book that made me think – ‘We Need To Talk About Kevin’ Lionel Shriver
Book on my bookshelf that I keep meaning to read 'Mr Vertigo' by Paul Auster.
Author that makes me laugh – not sure he’s a novelist but I do love Charlie Brooker’s ‘Screen Burn’ column in The Guardian on Saturday Entertainment supplement – that man should write novels today, if he hasn’t!
Hope to hear from any people who find any of my books and also from anyone with great suggestions for good reads - I'm always on the lookout for any titles that will take me away from the trashy murder mystery novels of which I read far too many!
