Hi!
I'm an 18 year old, literature loving, very "into everything" kind of girl from Finland. I signed up for BookCrossing a short while ago, and I have already found so many wonderful people!
I am looking forward to some real action with book releasing and catching, but unfortunately I have found that BC activities aren't too popular around here... Oh'well, I'll just have to find someone who will join me!
To tell you a bit about myself, I could start by saying something about my love for books. It all started when I was 4 or 5 years old. My dad used to read stories for me before bedtime. My all time favourite was the picture book "Eloise" by Kay Thompson. We read it over and over again! Especially the part where Eloise goes up and down with the elvator of the Plaza Hotel...
Later on I have enjoyed authors such as Mika Waltari, Roald Dahl, Göran Tunström, Margret Atwood, Frank McCourt, Albert Camus, Solvig von Schoultz et.c. I have this habit of reading several books at a time. Right now I'm reading 4 novels and one play. I sort of leave one book in every room and pick them up as I run into them...:)
I'm halfway through my last year in IB high school and all the school work keeps me pretty busy. I just figured that I need to take my thoughts of school every once in a while, and so I joined BookCrossing. So far so good!
I hope you'll leave me a message, I'm glad to make new friends all over the world and to learn new things!
Before I move on from writing this introduction to something much less interesting (like homework), I could mention my mission. Yes, it might even be a bit impossible one might say. I have taken it to my task to try to spread Finnish literture to other countries. I am very fond of many Finnish authors such as Arto Paasilinna, Mika Waltari (mentioned earlier), Märta Tikkanen, Henrik Tikkanen, Solveig von Schoultz (mentioned earlier), Edith Södergran etc. If you are interested in Finnish literature, or want to be, PLEASE PM ME!!!! I'll help you get on track.
