The first book in a fabulous series. When I am able to obtain books 2 and 3, I will start a bookring.

This book is just as good as I remembered.

O'Brian's well known Aubrey/Maturin series kicks off with the meeting of these two friends.

This time I was smart and obtained a companion book to this series that helps me decipher the technical jargon and sailor's slang that abounds in this series. Instead of bleeeping out these terms but still understanding the gist of the story, I can now become an insider to the jokes and can tell a brig from a snow.

I am forwarding this book on to Amaranta20. I've been reading it for almost a month now, and it's been slow going. I'm just not getting into it, so I'm sending it on. Thank you so much for giving me the opportunity to read it!

I just got this in the mail today! It's so fun getting packages. Can't wait to read it. I've heard great things.

I read this for the letter "O" in the 2005 author challenge, to read a book by one author I'd never read before for each letter of the alphabet.

I liked this book. Although I did feel a bit lost with all of the nautical terms, it was sort of fun to learn a new vocabulary. Plus I'd been wanting to read this for a while. I'm going to send this off to book-girl-24 as soon as I get her address.

book-girl-24 now has Master and Commander but has had computer trouble. It's next plus one in her reading pile.
Hurray! the ring is not dead!

I got this book not too long ago. I'm going to start reading it soon. (I have to study for my written test for driving too. Homegirl needs to get her license.) But, I should be done with it by July.
