Stolen Lives: Twenty Years in a Desert Jail

It was very interesting to read about the culture and life in Morocco, especially from the view point of someone living inside the palace surrounded with wealth. It's amazing to see just how different things are in that part of the world, as compared with the U.S. Amazing to see what this family was put through and what they survived...I'm not sure if I could have done it.

Just received this as an RABCK from raquelsita. Though there are a few others on my TBR pile before it, I am excited to read it. Thanks!

It never ceases to amaze me what people do to each other. To be prosecuted for your father's crimes for twenty years is appalling. And the conditions imposed on the Oufkir family were abominable. I don't know if I would have been as brave and stalwart as Malika and her family. This book was an eye-opener for sure. Despite the horrific subject matter, I still enjoyed this glimpse into another world.
