Who can fail to be heartbroken at the story of Anne Frank? This copy was mine as a teenager. Think I bought it at the apartment where she actually hid in Amsterdam.

This is a book everyone should read ! I was sitting in the kitchen last night finishing the last few chapters and my flatmate said he wanted to (re)read after me so we got talking and Anne Frank's diary is part of the curriculum in German schools (or at least was in my time) so I dug out my German copy which I read in 1985 so I was 14 myself when I first read it. 26 years later the book is still so very poignant and haunting and I am really looking forward to my visit to Amsterdam in a few weeks time.

Finally went through another book that's been sitting on my shelf for years - and so glad I did. This is a different story of captivity - pulsing with innocence, curiosity, malice, teenage angst, depression and will to live. A unique, powerful tale - one that humanity can only dream nobody else will ever need to put down on paper.

Thank you so much for sharing - and sorry I kept this book for I can't believe how long. Now let's see where and when it will travel next .. :)
