Just received this as a trade with Bookgroupman, looking forward to reading it.
Intriguing opening, where we watch a murderer at his craft in the backstreets of London. We follow him to a barbers & an old-fashioned museum of useless objects. It is an Albert Campion novel, but he doesn't feature much.
I remember enjoying Margery Allingham in the distant days when i was still reading Christie & Sayers (alas, i've read them all now). So picking up this,i expected an absorbing treat. But i found myself skimming for England & counting the number of pages i had left before finishing each chapter-always a bad sign. It may be that this is just not one of her best. But i suspect that i've had too rich a diet of contemporary fast-moving crime novels, written in snappy cinematic scenes, plots twisting on a pinhead, with in your face gore masked as realism. I think my taste buds in crime fiction have been dulled, and my attention span is narrowing. Time to go back to chewing my food & savouring the subtle blend of herbs & spices!

Chucked it onto someone's narrowboat! I hope the occupants of 'The Wild Rover' are wanting something to read on their travels.
