This is the second book in the Hamish Macbeth series that I have read. While this story had a good murder mystery plot, I thought the author spoiled it with women's equality issues which didn't add to the plot or character development. Interestingly this book also had Hamish dosed with Rohypnol, which is an odd occurance in a small village.
The other Hamish Macbeth book I've read is the latest in the series, Death of a Valentine, which had a female constable use Rohypnol on Hamish to coerce him into marriage.
