For the first 200 pages nothing or very little happens, it is only when you pass the middle that the book seems to have any life. A bad job of editing. Too much waffle and padding, like ploughing through mud.

But ...

The Redbreast exposes a dark side of Norwegian society. More Norwegians fought on behalf of the Germans than the Resistance, the elite fled to England. It was only when the Germans were seen to be losing the Resistance swelled in ranks.

Life imitating art: A chilling insight into what was to happen in Oslo and on Utoeya island late July 2011 when Anders Behring Breivik massacred dozens of Norwegians in a killing spree. [see My heart goes out to friends in Norway]

Jo Nesbo is no Stieg Lrassen and it is crass of the publisher to suggest otherwise.
