The fourth installment of Beverley's delightfully spicy Georgian era Malloren series is skillfully plotted and fast paced. Scarred in a carriage accident as a teenager, reclusive Rosamunde Overton, a talented horse breeder, has a passion for her husband's holdings. When they are threatened, she vows to go to any length to save them, even to the extent of rescuing a gorgeous stranger from the side of the road and demanding sex as a reward so that she'll conceive and prevent her husband's estate from going to his heir, a member of a fanatical religious cult. The stranger turns out to be Lord Brand Malloren, who also has a passion for animal husbandry and farm management, and is utterly fascinated by the mysterious masked, married woman who rescues and seduces him. Only Beverley could turn such an improbable plot and what appears to be a hopelessly ill-fated meeting into a captivating feel-good romance. Readers need not have read others in the series to fully enjoy this one.

I actually thought I'd read this one before when I read the back cover, but it was something a little bit similar. I enjoyed the characters especially in this one.
