Received in a box of books from our daughter, bookstogive. Thanks kid!
I've read a lot of Stuart Woods books. This was not his best. It was a ok story. Rick Barron is a sharp detective on the Beverly Hills force in Hollywood's golden age. He has a dispute with his captain and finds himself demoted. He gets a job on the security detail for one of the studios in town. He is dubbed the Prince of Beverly Hills by the society columnists. He unearths a murder cover-up and a blackmail scam, he finds himself up against West Coast wise guys whose stakes are do or die..........

Received this book from fathermurphy and forgot to journal it. Better late than never.
Anyway read the book. It was a pretty good story. This Rick Barron must have been a whiz as he was a detective, demoted to uniformed cop, hired to be chief of security at a motion picture company, promoted to move producer and flying ace in the Navy. It is fiction after all. It held my attention and I enjoyed the story.

Returning to bookstogive for her reading pleasure.
I caught this book back from love2cook to read and then release, thanks for sharing!
Rick Barron has been a cop for 8 years in the early 1930's but finds he is having trouble with his boss so when he receives an offer to become head of security for a movie studio he jumps at the chance. Soon he is hobnobbing with the hottest stars including Clark Cable, Carol Lombard, and David Niven, but he finds himself at odds with Bugsy Segal and his "family" and he knows that he must take action.
It was a good fast read. Now ready for a new reader
