Same cover, but yellow, strange...anyhoo I picked this up from a charity table in Co-op, Aboyne. I have had a copy of this in the past but passed it on unread.
(13/10/12) I’ve had this book for long enough (twice), and was probably putting off reading the last Crichton book (not including Pirate Latitudes). It wasn’t one of his best, but still good for the science, and the thriller story, albeit a bit of a mish-mash. Unlike his other books, Crichton seems to get a bit political and emotional about the whole field of genetics, including a personal message as an afterword - maybe due to his medical background? The story itself centres on 2 transgenic animals/humans, and various related and unrelated vignettes about the uses and abuses of gene testing, experimentation & patenting. It all gets tidied up in the end, the bad guys lose and the good guys (all species) mostly live to fight another day. However, the story is lost a bit in the message and propaganda :(

Passed on to new cruise friends, on the MSC Opera, somewhere between Yalta and Odessa, I think! Welcome to bookcrossing P&C, I hope you enjoy this, make a journal entry and pass it on...T
