The blurb on the cover said: Pick up Jaws before midnight, read the first five pages, and I guarantee you can't stop reading this before dawn the next day.

And that's exactly how it was: I made the mistake of starting in the evening, read a little, then a little more, and then I kept on reading and reading and reading, promising myself I'd stop after just one more page...or the next one...the next one, for sure...until I finished reading it, the sun came out, and the birds began to sing.

Not only is it a thrilling novel, it also has considerably more depth (for the shark to swim in) than the film. The shark is merely a symbol of the threat the biologist poses to Cody's marriage, and while this is see-through imagery suitable for high school classes, it's done quite well. It's also been spiced up with some hefty sex scenes not at all suitable for the high school student. ;-) (And they weren't quite to my taste, either. ;-))

The shark will be swimming on at the next Frankfurt Meetup, so avoid fast, repetitive movements. :->
