Finally read the book! Poetry isn't really my thing but I quite enjoyed these. Interesting to read more of the Brontës' writings. Now the book will maybe go with me to this year's BC con, we'll see if that pans out. :-)

I read a poem here and a poem there during the last weeks. Those two by Charlotte for her deceased sisters are heartbreaking - I wonder what beautiful novels they would have given to the world had they all lived longer.
What I hadn't known before I visited Haworth village and the parsonage where they lived was that their father Patrick Brontë survived the whole family - he saw his wife and all six children die.

Thankyou for your generosity.

An enjoyable selection and tragic story behind the writing where most of the family succumbed to tuberculosis. I am going to look at wishes and hopefully find someone internationally with whom to share.

Thanks very much for the extra, jeniwren. 🙂
A very well travelled little book and a perfect choice for hitchhiking. I’ll try to keep it moving on once read. Where to next, I wonder?

Must admit that this sort of poetry really isn’t my thing, but I still appreciate the opportunity to read the poems. I found most of them to be pretty depressing actually. Tragic lives with tragic ends and containing not much joy apparently.
I’ll keep the book moving on to a new reader.

Hello hitchhiker! A lovely surprise too. I saw the movie Emily earlier this year and whilst it is very loose with the truth apparently (I still really like it!) it made me curious for more Bronte work past the obvious ones that I have already read, notable Anne's novels and...their poetry! So it's perfect timing really, plus it's tiny AND it's travelled all over the world. What's not to love.
