From the back cover:

'Time has moved on for Quirke, the world-weary pathologist first encountered in 'Christine Falls'. It is the middle of the 1950s, that low, dishonourable decade; a woman he loved had died, a man he once admired is dying, while his daughter he for so long denied is still finding it hard to accept him as her father. When an old acquaintance approaches him about his wife's apparent suicide, Quirke recognises trouble,
as always, trouble is something he cannot resist.

Benjamin Black is the pen named for well known author John Banville.

Somehow this got covered by stacks of other books and I stalled it for too long !
The front cover states: absorbing, atmospheric and moving ... and it's just that !
I hope the book will find lots of new adventures soon !
