1981 Schenkman trade paperback of the 1979 text, from Cambridge. I found this copy today in the free books pile on the porch of Dimond Library.
Edit June 10, 2021: This is a thorough, but very dry history of the politics of each country in the region. I lightly skimmed it, but even the places where we fought wars and where massive slaughters took place by conquering Communists were covered in very dull textbook fashion, so it did not add much to my appreciation of those countries or their struggles. But for a very narrow set of scholarly students who are compelled by it, this book is a proper education.
