One of my favorite books EVER! I think this is a book you either really love or love to hate.

Got this today. Thank you. I have never read this.
This has got to be the worst book I ever read! A teenage boy wandering around New York City smoking and cussing. No plot, no sense whatsoever. I can't believe this ever made the bestseller list. It was so crummy I couldn't even finish it.
Sending it to magicwritinggal. I hope she likes it better.

Just received in the mail. Thanks so much!
Finally read this book! Loved it! I could totally relate to Holden's angst, self-deprecation, wanderlust, sense of humor, sensitivity, sarcasm, and ennui. Very much how I was as a teenager (minus all the cussing and money). It's scary how much of that sort of negative narrative still goes through my head at age 30, though refreshing to hear that same kind of voice coming at me from 1945.
I can see why this is the #1 banned book in public schools, but oh, the good it would do some kids to read it!
