4 journalers for this copy...
I have had this book on my shelf for a while, but just don't think I'm going to get to it soon, or I may eventually put it as an audio book on my ipod.
WILD RELEASE NOTES:
If you aren't familiar with Bookcrossing, take a few minutes to check out this very cool site. Bookcrossers LOVE books, and more than anything, they love to read books and then set them free for other people to find and enjoy. I would love it if you would leave a journal entry -- you can say where you found the book or how you liked it when you read it. Then, when you are ready, pass it along for someone else to enjoy! Thanks and happy reading!
Funny book for the most part.
Joey Wheeler is thrown off a cruise ship, off the coast of Florida, by her husband on the their second anniversary cruise. She survives the fall and starts swimming. Guy in a boat finds her delirious and clinging to a bale of pot. He takes her in, hears her story and instead of going to the police the two of them plan a wacky revenge. Joey would like to know why her husband, Chaz, threw her off the ship.
Chaz is a biologist working as a water quality specialist for a big agricultural company in the Everglades. His job consists of lying about the amount of phosphorous in the water. When his wife is reported missing and assumed fallen overboard and drowned, this brings a lot of unwanted attention from the police who are rightly suspicious of the circumstances of Joey's assumed death. The company, protecting its interests, posts a gorilla of a body guard on Chaz. Farce ensues, justice is served, this is South Florida in all its hilariousness. I lived in South Florida for a little while and found it to be a place that generated amusing stories, including for me; the septic system (don't let your kids play in the sprinklers, walking barefoot in the grass - don't, the DOL - big room for waiting, people get called out in groups of 10, there are 10 chairs in a row and every time a person gets called to the counter everyone moves one chair closer to chair #1 from which you will get called to the counter - not even joking about this. Carl Hiaasen kicks it up a notch for laughs but he really portrays South Florida with an eye for its innate comedic value.
Neither book in the bookring was my cup of tea, but I chose this one to release in the future.
