Hmmm, my copy has a different (better) cover than that.
Back cover:
Cider With Roadies is a story of growing up with pop. From Stuart's audience with the Beatles (aged three) to a boyish dalliance with Northern Soul, from the radical effect of punk on his politics, homework and trouser dimensions to ending up writing for the NME by accident and living the sex, drugs (chiefly lager in a plastic glass) and rock 'n' roll lifestyle.
shnedwards' review:
I really enjoyed this. It made me chuckle, especially these bits:
1. The observation that Pete Townsend looks like everyone does when they look in the back of a spoon.
2. The description of the Happy Mondays' sartorial style as "crackhead Mountain Rescue Team".
3. The story about the photo shoot with Erasure by the docks in Hamburg: the obligatory arty, moody shots in an industrial landscape. After watching them for a while and totally misunderstanding the situation, an old German guy came up to them and said "And now one of you all together, ja?"
Plus, when I read it I could hear Stuart Maconie's voice in my head.
