Key Lime Pie Murder (Hannah Swensen Mystery 9)

Journal Entry 1 by Rianonne from Wien Bezirk 22 - Donaustadt, Wien Austria on Thursday, April 14, 2011
Sometime sleuth Hannah Swensen, owner of the Cookie Jar in Lake Eden, is judging the baking contest at the Tri-County Fair. When one of her fellow judges, home economics teacher Willa Sunquist, is murdered, Hannah determines to sniff out the killer. Was it a man from Willa's mysterious past? Or a student she flunked?
Fluke has developed a charming supporting cast — Hannah's besotted (and slightly spineless) two suitors, her overbearing but likable mother, her endearing sisters and her levelheaded business partner all feel like friends by the time the murder is solved. The dozens of tempting recipes Fluke includes are an added treat.

Thank you, Rianonne for lending me the book!
A cozy murder story as it should be... I liked the observation for all the cookie and pie tasting (there were some I would have liked to taste as well!!! especially the key lime pie!) and all other details about the fair. The rodeo part is not my key interest ane therefore I liked it that it was kept in the background. One knows that cowboys and clowns are around, but their showing off is not the center of interest. Thanks to the author!
The murder is developped slowly, but also taht is nice to get the feet on the ground in the little town with all its excitement about the fair. Hannah still cannot decide between Mike and Norman (however I would take Norman, who is way too nice, empathic and caring to be true).
The showdown at the end was maybe requested by the editor, however I would not have needed it to have a good feeling about the book. It was rather stupid from Hannah, how she blurted out all the details about her thoughts to the wrong man (I try to be cryptic to avoid spoiling the fun for the next readers...), which is not her way all the other 300 pages of the book.
Anyhow, it is a nice read and the receipes are a nice add-on... Thanks for lending me the book, Rianonne! It will be returned rather soon (hopefully before I go on vacation!).
