"When Anne Perry puts Thomas and Charlotte Pitt on the case, we are in exemplary Victorian company."
THE NEW YORK TIMES
When Charlotte Pitt, well-born wife of Thomas Pitt, the police investigator, learned of her mother's distress in losing a locket with a compromising picture, she did not know it was the beginning of several bizarre events that would end in sudden death. For hidden behind the sumptuous elegance of Ruthland Place were terrible secrets. Secrets so horrifying that only murder could conceal them. And only the dogged persistence of Charlotte and Thomas could reveal them....

Thank you so much for sharing this series with me!
Once again, Charlotte and Thomas become tangled in a web of secrets. This one has some nice twists at the end. Thanks, loveamystery, for sharing!
Sent as a wishlist RABCK to Annelis.
Oh, thank you very much for this book, Jumpingin! You are so kind! I'll read the book soon and give it to someone else. I really enjoy this Victorian atmosphere.
I started to read this enjoyable book after having read the first two books in the series. I have always wondered why a room is called drawing room but in this book it is withdrawing room and it explains the thing to me.
This is my book #93 in the Reduce Mount TBR 2018 -challence by Dove-i-libri.

I love this series. Ending was a bit nasty but all in all, way better than the newest Kepler if you ask me.

Really nice, better than last book in the series. The manners and customs of the time, especially for the women, are annoying, silly and even stupid, but still somehow I love them.. and the fact how women, despite their appearance, did lots of things that were really not accepted by the society.
