This was a good and touching story. It is so sad how immigrants from China were treated in USA back it the day. First they were confused with the Japanese during ww II and then haunted as communists, even when they had lived in the country for 20 years before the Party rose in China. And even more sad is that similar behaviour still seems to happens everywhere, but in West now mostly with muslims. I guess it is in human nature to classify people as us and others, but humans should try to overcome the urge.

I attended the local BC meet-up in Turku yesterday and took See's book from there. I have the book in Finnish so I might take this one to a meet-up in Helsinki or then offer it to a certain bookcrosser, it depends ;) Thank you for the book! It was fun at the meet-up :)

Oopsie, this was one of the many books I forgot to journal when received... Now I've finally read it! It was an interesting enough story of different culture and different times. Sad, annoying, frustrating... also, to me, it fell a bit flat. The ending was a cliffhanger.
