A fun story about a spacefaring circus company that has trouble finding suitably scarey beasts for its animal trainer act, so comes up with a creative solution. However, the solution has problems of its own. The ending was a bit weak (I think the author had painted himself into a bit of a tight corner and couldn't find a decent way out of it), but otherwise an ok light read.

Picked this one up at the Wellington meetup tonight. It was great to meet you, FutureCat - hope you have a safe trip back to Christchurch (and that the weather's better down there!)
Well, I did find this a light and funny book, at least to start with, but it got more and more disturbing as I read on. Some of those injuries that Monk and Batman inflicted on each other were just horrific, and I'm sure, had this been a film, I would have shut my eyes tight during all the fight sequences.
Anyway, this was totally different to my normal reading material, and therefore a good one to end the year on (unless I start another book tomorrow). Thanks again for bringing it along to the meetup, FutureCat.
