Absorbing, very complicated, occasionally exasperating account of a marriage, the CIA, the works of Milton, Americans in Africa. Exceptionally well written and challenging, but certainly not for everybody!

Sending onto Genevalove upon her request, and hope she enjoys!

Thanks very much, truthteller, for sending this book my way! I'm really looking forward to reading it.

This book was intriguing in parts, sometimes very entertaining and thought-provoking, but around page 500 I found myself getting a little weary of living in the mind of the what, protagonist?, Ray Finch.
Mr. Finch is a covert operative working for the CIA in Gabarone, Botswana, but the center of his universe is his wife, Iris. His secret job brings to his attention two newcomers, an idealist named Kerekang and an African-American doctor named Morel who has come to Botswana to "liberate Africa from the yoke of Christianity."
Worth a read, but definitely on the long-winded side.
Thanks, truthteller, for sending this to me! It's now on its way to a fellow bookcrosser in New Jersey. Hope you like it--and please let me know how it compares to Mating, which I haven't read.
