From Publishers Weekly:
Lambda Literary Award winner Forrest ( The Beverly Malibu ) transcends the run-of-the-mill police procedural and courtroom drama with this thought-provoking fourth in a series featuring Los Angeles lesbian homicide cop Kate Delafield.

The book arrived in today's mail, along with a fabulous assortment of goodies: a BookCrossing bumper sticker and smaller sticker, two transparent BC window-clings, and a lovely crocheted bookmark with cat pendant! I'm quite overwhelmed... the book's almost an afterthought {grin}. Many thanks, Mandali!

I enjoyed this - quite a decent read. It's a sort of combination police-procedural/courtroom drama, and would make a perfect "Law & Order" episode {grin}. Detective Kate Delafield is assigned the case of a young gay man who was brutally slashed to death inside his own restaurant. The search for a suspect is steady and methodical, and soon produces results; the rest of the book is devoted to the trial, with lots of emphasis on forensic details such as blood-spatter patterns (I love this stuff). Delafield's personal life is touched on briefly here, as she continues to build a relationship with her new lover Aimee, but it isn't the prime focus of the story; there are a few mentions of events from previous books, but in general this one stands on its own quite well. An enjoyable mystery - and I wouldn't mind reading more in the series to see how Kate's getting on...
