A just out novel by Isabel Wolff, about an animal behaviourist ( a vet turned animal psychologist) coming to terms with past events, from the long ago and not so long ago. I thought the story telling a bit manipulative sometimes, like the details of what exactly Alexander did to Miranda or Miranda did to David are kept a secret needlessly in a way that feels annoying. But I adored the animal bits, and there are some laugh out loud moments there - favorite part was the radio show call lady with the bulldog.

I am closing the bookring for now because I do mean to pass this book to a friend here in a not-too-distant future, but I will rerelease it as a bookray after my friend has read it. First on line for that will be Mielh in Danmark and I can take other names for that list.

Some guidelines, based on those from sugarkane

- When you receive the book, please post a journal entry that it has arrived and PM the next
person on the list for his/er address.

- When you finish reading, make another journal entry (or else edit the first one) with your comments.

- This book should be a quick read. Please don't keep it more than 2 or 3 weeks. If you foresee that you just won't have time to read it, let the person before you know before he/she ships it and contact me to change the bookring order.

- It is not necessary to post a release note when mailing a book but please leave the shipping date on the journal entry note.

- Have fun!

Journal Entry 4 by allbookedup from Wien Bezirk 21 - Floridsdorf, Wien Austria on Friday, September 19, 2003
I finished the book today, it was a quick read and really enjoyable.
I love animals, so reading about an animal behaviourist was interesting and fun.
I really liked the fact that characters from Wolff's earlier novels had guest appearances in this book!! (Lily from "Out of the blue", Minty from "The making of Minty Malone"and Rose from "Rescuing Rose")
I will send this off to "Rozenn" on Moday, Sept. 22nd!

Journal Entry 5 by Mostly-Harmless on Thursday, October 9, 2003
I got it with the mail today ! thanks allbookedup (and for the stamps, too :-) )
I will surely read it during the week-end, more then !

Journal Entry 6 by Mostly-Harmless on Sunday, October 12, 2003
I quite like this Isabel Wolff's novel, although it's not my favourite one. The various mysteries (what Miranda did, what Alexander did, who Daisy met, which idea had Miranda's mother) is a bit annoying at the end, and the whole issue : should I tell him / should I not frankly bored me ; I felt like shouting : "Now decide !" to the heroin. And, as in other Wolff's novels, some "mysterious" things are obvious to the reader...
But, but... I picked it this morning and spend my day reading it. So I won't spit in the soup, as we say in France, and I admit that I truly enjoyed it. The dialogues are witty, the pet things are funny and the idea on the whole is quite good.

Arrived in San Diego safe and sound. I'm looking forward to reading this. Of course, it has to be squeezed in between the Princess Diaries trilogy bookray that I have here, but I'm sure I won't have this book here long. Thanks for sharing your book, BlossomU, and thank you for sending it to me, rozenn! Oh happy day! :)

This is the first Isabel Wolff book I've ever read (Out Of The Blue has been on my wish list for some time, and I have The Trials of Tiffany Trott sitting on Mt. TBR) and I'm really enjoying it. I'm already 2/3 of the way through it. I haven't gotten to any laugh-out-loud parts yet, though!

Journal Entry 9 by EllyMae58 from El Cajon, California USA on Saturday, November 15, 2003
Yay, I'm finished! I quite enjoyed this, although it seemed a bit deep to be true 'chick lit'. I'm looking forward to reading more by Isabel Wolff!

Thank you so much for sharing BlossomU!

12/1: Delay in shipping this out. Due to certain circumstances in Kymberlie's life recently, her mailing address has changed. I've PM'd her, and am waiting to get the info. Will mail the book as soon as I've heard from her.

I didn't think I was going to like this book when I started it, but it did get my attetion.

I do think the author dragged out the "mysteries" a little too long, but the animal stories are laugh-out-loud funny. All in all an enjoyable read.

Off to lorelei03 tomorrow.

Wohooo :o) Thanks, lorelei03 & BlossomU - Behaving Badly has FINALLY arrived :o) Found it on the table when I got home yesterday :o) Am so relieved that it didn't get lost in mailspace after all ;o) I do suspect, however, that the mailman must have read it as well since it has taken more than a month for the book to get from the US to Denmark?! *G*

Anyway, started reading it on my way to work this morning - and am enjoying already :oD

Journal Entry 17 by MaiSpritt from Roanoke, Virginia USA on Monday, March 29, 2004
Totally enjoyable chick lit book - just the way I like them ;o)

However, I tend to agree with some of the other comments that I read here - e.g. that the things that are "not told" are totally annoying!! Also, I found Miranda a little too self absorbed, but I guess that it is much easier to spot faults with someone else rather than yourself *G*

But all in all I enjoyed it - and I especially love the fact that it is this VERY book which has been enjoyed by so many before me, and hopefully also lots of people after me :oD

I plan to send it to MieLH either today or tomorrow, so thanks again to BlossomU for lending and enjoooooy, MieLH!!!

Happy reading :oD

PS... mailed the book to MieLH Monday, so it should be there around now :o)

I'm shipping this book back to Teresa in Lisboa now... It's been on my shelves for several months, but I've been to busy to bury myself in the pages. Hopefully the next keeper will have more luck with it :o) - Mie...

Back with me, thanks everybody! Ring is back home after a glamorous world tour.

I am planning to loan this to a non-BCer, but in the meanwhile a couple local BCers might be interested in this as well, reserving the book for them.

Adorei este livro. Li-o bastante rapidamente. Gostei especialmente da parte sobre o comportamento dos animais. Afinal, os cães não são doidos, os donos é que sim ;-)
Muito obrigada pelo empréstimo BlossomU, valeu bem a pena.
