"I hereby bet Tony Hawks the sum of one hundred pounds that he cannot hitch hike round the circumference of Ireland, with a fridge, within one calendar month."

And that about sums it up.

One of my favourite books of all time, genuinely funny, wonderfully well-written and sublimely ridiculous.

My first copy, having done the rounds of friends and family, went BC'ing of its own accord a few years back, my second I'm clinging onto for dear life. The third copy to pass through my hands was especially procured for BC'er Gameface in CA, and the fourth (who said that BookCrossing cuts down on sales for authors???) I picked up for Psikopat, aka Dut in France, as part of a translatory-trade experiment extravaganza...so here's the fifth, and I'm adding it to the Tutti Frutti Favourites Bookbox that we've started up over on the BookCrossingUK Yahoo Group. Enjoy the book...it's just about the silliest, funniest thing I've ever read. :O)

Also, Tony Hawks has a rather good website...the skateboarding Q&A is particularly enlightening...;O)

Taken out of the bookbox - not my normal read, but I found it fascinating just reading the back cover!

This really is a fantastic book!! I don't read humour as a rule, the only exceptions has been Maureen Lipman and this one. This is well worth reading! The wit of Hawks is brilliant, mix in his fridge escapades, the Irish culture and it makes a truly got-to-read, can't-put-this-down book! My favorite part has got to be the surfing ;))) I'll be offering this up at the next Norwich meetup, which is being planned for Wednesday.

After hearing so much about this book, and having resisted the temptation of so many bookrings/rays started with the same title, I have now succumbed at the Norwich meetup of the 7th of February and taken it home to London with me.
I am not sure when I will manage to read it (hint: did you see how many "TBR" books I have in my profile???) but it HAS to be done. Now. ;-)

Brought home from the Norwich meetup back in 2004, and managed to read it in 2017: how's that for book hoarding, anyone? :-D
I liked it lots! At some point I had to laugh out loud, as the scenes described - or his mental conversation at that point - were just too comical to resist.
I am going to pass this on to a person who likes travelling too... probably not with a fridge, though!
