From Amazon.co.uk review:

[A novel of loss and love, and a philosophical meditation on the body. The novel explores the body as a physical entity and as an image of our innermost selves in order to reveal more about the phenomenon of love.]
______________________________

Winterson writes poetry in prose. She is always very eloquent about love. This novel is about love, too; love of a person of unrevealed gender, towards a beautiful married woman ill with leukemia. The moral problem between being with the beloved, and her salvation and health, offered by the becomes too hard for the lover to solve...he is going on compromise in the name of love but is he right? Doesn`t he sacrifice his love, doesn`t he hurt her more than save her? It is up to the reader to decide. A beautiful love story.

Thank you very much for sending this! It arrived today in perfect conditions...and thank you too for the great postcard with views from Sofia. As a "virtual" exchange, here is a virtual postcard of what London looks like today ("typical, what do you expect?" I can hear someone say... but I can assure you that you don't see London like this very often!)...
I already read two books by Jeanette Winterson and enjoyed them both immensely...cannot wait to dig into this one and see what it is like :-)
