This book follows Adela Quested's visit to India, her experiences in the heat of the sun, and within the Marabar Caves. It won the Prix Femina Vie Heureuse and the James Tait Black Memorial Prize, and was first published in 1924.

Have just come home from a 'book crossing hunt'. Given the Secret Mission I thought that tonight was the night for me to be able to find a book! I am so excited ....I actually found one!! I packed up Mark and Emily (11yrs old and already in her pj's) into the car and we went to the Fairfax building first - but no luck - despite instructions left by BX'ers - so off we went to News on Holt St and saw two bags with books - and this is the one I chose to take with me.
