I read this book a while back, and was moved by Dave's ability to verbalise his horrific childhood. He spent much of his young life being physically and mentally abused by his Mother, whilst trying to maintain a normal outward appearance of family life to society. However his strength of character has seen him through those terrible times, and he is now a well adjusted member of society, dealing well with all that the past has dealt him. It is a wrench to read sometimes, but the triumph of a good end is well worth it. This is the first book in Dave's story - I have yet to read the other ones. But I will be doing so very soon.
